Proverbs 18:19
A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
I have certainly had to deal with people who fulfill this description of the offended and once again the scripture is absolutely correct. People who have been offended are almost impossible to win. In many of cases they have justification for their hurt and reason to avoid and be cautious. I am not denying them their feelings.
This is the very reason that we who are Christian need to season our words with salt and to speak as the oracle of God and with love.
1Cor.6:7-8
Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? Why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?
As we can see here there is a much higher road to be taken but it will require a greater humility. Humility comes much easier when the cause is of such great price.
Now I will try to convey the purpose of this writing. I am not writing to those who will offend as much as to those who may be offended. We have probably all been in that conversation when a statement is made followed by the words, No offence. And the recipient usually responds, None taken!
Offence much like unforgiveness is detrimental to the one who carries its burden. Rarely does the offender suffer from the cause of the offense. I do not make excuse for any who offend and I will go on to say that they need to become repentant but the offended are the ones in troubled waters. As Proverbs has stated a brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city.
I cannot allow myself to be taken by offence to a place where it will become difficult to return from. I do not want to be in a place where the love of others and even the love of God cannot reach me.To be offended puts me in a gated community which may not allow others in but will not allow me out either. The bars of a castle can be for protection or can become a prison!
Acts 24:16
And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

Why I suffer!
"We must through much tribulation enter into the
kingdom of God."
— Acts 14:22
— Acts 14:22
God's people have their trials. It was never designed by God,
when He chose His people, that they should be an untried people. They were
chosen in the furnace of affliction; they were never chosen to worldly peace and
earthly joy. Freedom from sickness and the pains of mortality was never promised
them; but when their Lord drew up the charter of privileges, He included
chastisements amongst the things to which they should inevitably be heirs.
Trials are a part of our lot; they were predestinated for us in Christ's last
legacy. So surely as the stars are fashioned by his hands, and their orbits
fixed by Him, so surely are our trials allotted to us: He has ordained their
season and their place, their intensity and the effect they shall have upon us.
Good men must never expect to escape troubles; if they do, they will be
disappointed, for none of their predecessors have been without them. Mark the
patience of Job; remember Abraham, for he had his trials, and by his faith under
them, he became the "Father of the faithful." Note well the biographies of all
the patriarchs, prophets, apostles, and martyrs, and you shall discover none of
those whom God made vessels of mercy, who were not made to pass through the fire
of affliction. It is ordained of old that the cross of trouble should be
engraved on every vessel of mercy, as the royal mark whereby the King's vessels
of honour are distinguished. But although tribulation is thus the path of God's
children, they have the comfort of knowing that their Master has traversed it
before them; they have His presence and sympathy to cheer them, His grace to
support them, and His example to teach them how to endure; and when they reach
"the kingdom," it will more than make amends for the "much tribulation" through
which they passed to enter it.

The winds of change!
I recently returned from a church conference and every message from every speaker was speaking directly to all that I have been dealing with and praying about. I have been struggling with decision making and making the right choices that would not only benefit my life but the lives of others.
First I would like to confess that over the past few months I have not been the witness of Christ on a level that I believe that Jesus wants me to be! Not that I have been acting out in an ungodly manner but I haven't really shared the good news of the gospel or have offered the hope of the same. To some they might say that it doesn't matter or that we really don't need to but that is where I have come to a different understanding of my purpose.
When I had come to the understanding of Gods word that Christ had shed His blood for my sins, this was the beginning of the winds of change for me! As I gave my life to Him having repented of my sins, had been baptized in the name of Jesus and being filled with the Holy Ghost my purpose was now clear, that I would be a witness of Christ! I would live my life for His glory and that others would come to know Him because of it! Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven!
Today I confess and apologize to all that I have not offered words of hope and encouragement when you needed them. Having focused on my own life, family, church and needs I have not been the pastor, brother, husband, father, friend and co-worker that you deserve. I am thanking God for the winds of change!
Tomorrow morning in the church service I will be preaching about the passion of the Lord and how that passion is now once again burning in my soul. My passion is to be a witness of Christ to a troubled world! It is to be an open ear to listen to the brokenness that others may be facing! My passion is to have hands outstretched not to receive but to offer others what I have! My passion is to preach the gospel to all the world( the world that encompasses where I live) so that they may have opportunity to come to Jesus.
I don't intend to be a religious person, quoting scriptures, making judgments and personifying a holier than thou attitude but I will strive to demonstrate that loving relationship that I have with the Lord and make every effort to share the peace, joy and the passion that I have because of Him!
Change my heart oh God, Make it ever true. Change my heart oh God, may I be like you!

It will never lose its power!
The blood that Jesus shed for me, way back on Calvary, the blood that gives me strength from day to day, it will never lose its power! For it reaches to the highest mountain and it flows to the lowest valleys, the blood that gives me strength from day to day, It will never lose its power!
There was a time when our loving Father looked down from heaven and had seen that sin was conquering and that man hadn't the ability to overcome it, the plan would be to clothe Himself in flesh, come to this earth, walk among us and then pay the ultimate penalty for our sins which was His death on the cross!
It was this precious blood that flowed from the body of Jesus, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, the Lamb of God that would take away the sins of the world, the innocent blood of Jesus that would make me whole again!
What shall wash my sins away, NOTHING but the blood of Jesus. What shall make me whole again, NOTHING but the blood of Jesus!
There is power in the blood! Life sustaining! Wound healing! Sin forgiving! Strength providing! POWER!!!
As I was living my life in sin, doing only what I wanted to do according to my own will I came to an Old Rugged Cross by the way of attending a few church services and learning from my pastor the word of God! I had learned that the penalty of my sins was death. Yes I would have to die because I had sinned against God as all humanity had! But where sin did abound Grace did much more abound! A second chance was offered to me in the scriptures, if I were to escape death I would have to except another's sacrifice in place of my own. The only sacrifice that was ever made that would cover the multitude of sins was that of the blood of Jesus Christ!
As I had accepted His death in place of my own the only requirement on my part is that I now would surrender my life to Him! I was bought with the blood of Jesus and am no longer my own! I was to deny myself take up my cross and follow Him! To follow Him and to live the life that I would lead I needed to be born again of water and of the Spirit! I was born of the water in baptism where I now had taken on His name and born of the Spirit when filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in another tongue!
Now born again, sins forgiven and all things have become new I take the time to thank Him for the blood! Thank God for the blood that washes white as snow! The power in blood that had once washed my sins away, remains yet today. It will never lose its POWER!
Isa 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Repeat offender!
Prov 17:9
9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
Well if that doesn't say it all! Some things are not worth repeating and other things just plain shouldn't be repeated! Enough said! But I will say more.
We can talk about forgiveness and being over things but sometimes we store the offense in our memories as a future weapon! To make ourselves look better we remind people of who they were or what they have done. I call them repeat offenders. People who repeat only do so to hurt or damage those who they are talking to or about!
James 5:20
Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
In order to convert a sinner is to offer them hope of forgiveness and redemption. To remind a person of the error of there ways is damaging. Its difficult enough to except sometimes that the Lord has really forgiven us from the sins that we have committed just to have others try to hold us accountable for our pasts!
There is a saying in the church about sins that have been forgiven, Its under the blood! You can remind me of my failures and all that I can say is that its under the blood! Its meaning is that I have repented of those sins, have changed my life style to avoid repeating and Gods word says that He has forgiven me! Once forgiven, it no longer can be held against me!
Pro. 17:9 also speaks to those who choose to gossip. Not everything that a person hears is meant to be repeated or shared! If it is an issue that needs to be prayed about, then pray about it and there is no need to involve others. The greatest way to earn someone's trust is to keep your mouth shut. If someone entrusts you with a matter it should be held in confidence! To repeat the matter is to break that confidence and lose the trust of that someone! Repeat offenders destroy relationships! Not only with a single individual but with all parties involved. As the church is concerned it will infect the whole body.
Rom 8:1
8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Jesus Christ has offered us hope by forgiveness through repentance and baptism! 1 Peter 3:21
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
To have a good conscience is to be freed from the guilt of our sins, baptism washes that sin away never to be counted against us again!
Don't be a repeat offender by gossip! Don't be a repeat offender by judging and condemning a person for the things of there past.
One of the most powerful statements that Jesus had said in the bible comes from John 8:11
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

Reality is where I live!
Eccl 9:11-12
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
12 For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
The reality is that LIFE HAPPENS! There are times when God does show His children favor and because of prayers that we have made God has changed His mind on a certain thing, but there are times when life happens. It may be raining today simply because the clouds are full and can no longer contain it! The train has stopped you at the crossing simply because this is the moment it had entered the path in which you were on. People have been mean, unruly, hateful, disrespectful and may just have ignored you because they are people. That's life.
I do believe in spiritual influence, good and evil but I also believe that time and chance happeneth to us all. Meaning that not everything that happens to us in our lives is spiritually determined! The bible tells us that it rains on the just and the unjust alike. This doesn't mean that the just are blessed with the equal amount that the unjust are cursed or judged! What this means is good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people!
If bad things always happened to bad people then what hope would they ever have? If good things always happened to good people then what faith, trust or dependency on God would we ever need?
Living in reality means that I recognize that not everything goes according to my plans. It means that I don't blame God for allowing bad things to happen and only bless Him for the good! In all things give thanks!
Like the old song says, You take the good you take the bad you take the both and there you have The Facts of Life! As a Christian I have help from the Lord in my life's journey but I will still face what every life faces. I will face temptation. I will face difficulties. I will face loss and struggle. I will face the rain, the storm and winters cold but I will also face the warmth of the sun, not because the enemy is against me and the Lord is for me but because that's reality.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME!!!!!! In most cases it is because your heart is still beating, its because you are alive. We want to blame the enemy for all that happens but the problem is then we end up also blaming God for doing nothing about it.
There are times of influence from the enemy, but it will be a time when you are having an impact on the kingdom, when your reaching the lost, when your life is turning from sin to God not during your day to day life! The enemy will try to do greater damage than a flat tire on your car, broken down washing machine, late payment on your bills and even more than a common cold!
When we learn to live in reality our faith will quit waivering with every mishap! We wont blame God or give unwarranted credit to the enemy!
If you draw a circle and put your life and God in it, that's one reality! Now if you take God out of that circle, that's another reality but a reality nonetheless.
With Christ there is hope, purpose, help, direction, guidance and eternal salvation but there will still be difficult times, that's life, that's reality! Reality is where I live but it is still lived by faith and my life is still in His hands!!

Awaken with purpose!
Isa 60:1-5
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
4 Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.
5 Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
Well if that doesn't say it all! The people of God have great purpose to be awake and alive this morning, noon and night and every day that follows! We are the light of an ever darkening world and without us there is no hope for them that live in it! Let your light so shine before men that they see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Absolute darkness is simply the absence of light! We bring and we offer that light through our lives and His glorious gospel. If we don't arise, if we don't allow the light of Jesus to shine in our daily walk it is not we who are being effected but those who depend on us! Our families, co-workers, friends and everyone who we may come in to contact with need to see Jesus in us to survive.
As the church we have to understand what we mean to this world! We are the counter agent to all that is evil and ungodly! Where sin doth abound grace doth much more abound! Greater is He that is in YOU than he that is in the world! If you being the light are removed from the surroundings you are involved in darkness prevails! It may seem hopeless, it may seem unproductive to remain but without you there hope fades.
This morning I awoke with purpose! Though most of my day will be spent on the job I have to remember and remind myself that there is a greater purpose to this day than making a living or fulfilling my duties! It is to present Christ to the world!!! Maybe you are awake to get kids off to school, go to school yourself or maybe its to clean the house or to do nothing at all, today you have purpose! Shine the light on all that you can and if your confined to your home then pray for those who aren't and for the souls of the lost to receive that light! We all have a significant role to fulfill today, wherever you are and whatever your day brings YOU are a force in the kingdom!
If the church could ever realize the importance that we have to this world our woes would become non-existent or at least not our focus. As dark as it seems our lives can get being the light I cant even imagine how those without light feel!
You may get or be frustrated with those who you are trying to help and influence for the cause of Christ but the light must continue to shine! Many will reject you, turn against or rebel against you but that does not change our purpose! Just remember that the resistance and the rejection that you feel is not toward you, it is a reaction to what the light you shine is revealing in their lives.
Prov 4:18-19
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
When Jesus shines through us it reveals what it is that they are stumbling upon and they have to react to it, some react with persecution and some to repentance! My purpose is to shine the light and be ready to lead them to repentance!
Isa 59:10
We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.
As the blind and they that stumble reach out to find stability and direction we need to be the ones they find. If you have breath and know Jesus, then you have purpose!
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
